East Sussex VCSE Alliance Equality Diversity and Inclusion Charter 1 • East Sussex Community Voice

Kim Richards, CEO of Rother Voluntary Action (members of the East Sussex VCSE Alliance) introduced the East Sussex VCSE Alliance Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Charter at the RVA summer event: Working Towards Inclusivity on 24 June.

This Alliance-wide Charter reflects the commitment of 26 Alliance organisations to improve access, inclusion and fairness for their Boards, trustees, volunteers, staff and service users.

Participants at the event were introduced to the Charter’s objectives and six actions that members commit to undertaking:

Objectives

  • Embed Equality, Diversity and Inclusion to an agreed minimum set of standards for governance & HR processes
  • Enhance equality of access to services for people & communities with protected characteristics under the Equality Act 2010
  • Benefit East Sussex communities through improved services & greater inclusion

Six actions

Board Leadership: Board member leading on EDI

Staff Engagement: Incorporate staff voices into decision making of organisation

Policy Updates: Review EDI policies annually/in line with significant organisational or legislative changes
