East Sussex Community Voice

Year 6-7 Transition

This report was put together based on the advice and recommendations of our young volunteers,
about how to support students during their years 6-7 transition period.

“Included in this pack are reams of advice for schools and staff on helping their students manage the transition, including in-depth information on promoting inclusivity, building friendships, helping students cope with the increasing workload and pressures secondary school can bring, and a checklist for your school’s pastoral support team of things to think about when caring for your new year 7s.  We have also included testimonies of our young volunteer’s own experience throughout their transition, including what worried them the most, and what they wish they and their school’s staff had known for starting secondary school.” - Hayden, IAG Lead Member (15)
